Welcome to Gwen's Yeast Metabolic Engineering Exploration

Thanks for visiting! I am eager to introduce and explain my recent biotechnology laboratory project through this site. On the menu above, explore the pages describing the yeast strain used (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), metabolic engineering as a concept, the value of beta carotene, and the project itself. Feel free to contact with any remaining questions!

Yeast Metabolic Engineering Science Communication Effort

Sharing My Work with Others

The past 8 weeks, my class and I have genetically engineered yeast cells to produce a non-native metabolite, beta carotene. In doing so, we also explored the effects of a pooled deletion library, which helps contribute to general scientific knowledge about the beta carotene regulation network.
